Democrats and progressives won big this past election because they agree now is the time to let the Bush Tax Cuts expire for America’s wealthiest two percent. Poll after poll, show this is the will of the American people. Now even former GOP Congressman Joe Scarborough is taking a stand with the American People. If only his colleagues in Congress would see the light.
Instead, they are offering the Romney Plan. Extend the Bush Tax Cuts, but close loop holes and end deductions… while we are at it they want to cut Medicare. Remember, this is the same frame work offered by Mitt Romney, who lost.
Here at DFA we will not stand for a bad deal that extends the Bush Tax Cuts, and cuts Medicare, which is are going to drop over 50,000 petitions on Harry Reid’s desk that says no deal is better than a bad deal. Add your name here:

The GOP’s plan to balance the budget? Extend the Bush Tax Cuts, increase the defense budget, and cut medicare. That sounds like a bad deal to us.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor distanced himself from anti-tax crusader Grover Norquist’s pledge on Monday’s Morning Joe, explaining that solving the fiscal cliff is more important than the pledge he signed as a young member of the Virginia legislature more than a decade ago.
“When I go to my constituents, it’s not about that pledge,” Cantor said. “It really is about trying to solve problems.”
To say they are distancing themselves from the Norquist pledge is a bit disingenuous. When the GOP is saying they are for putting revenues on the table, what they are saying is they support the Mitt Romney plan, which is close loop holes and limit deductions.
Important to note, the American people had a chance to vote on that plan, and it lost. The American People have overwhelmingly spoken, and now is the time to end the Bush Tax Cuts for America’s Wealthiest individuals. A true distance from the Anti-Tax Plan would be to out right, say we are ok with letting these taxes go up so that 98 percent of Americans can get a tax cut.
